Ambuja Cements has called a shareholder meeting via video conference to consider the amalgamation of Orient Cement with the company.

Shareholders on record as of September 21 are eligible to vote.

The proposed scheme requires approval from a three-fourths majority in value of shareholders.

Importantly for retail investors, it also needs more public shareholder votes in favor than against to pass.

This grants public investors a significant say in this key strategic merger.

Remote e-voting is available from September 23 to September 27.
