Shalimar Paint Color & Varnish Company was established in 1902 by two Britishers. It is the first paint company of India.It was acquired by Ratan Jindal faction of the O.P. Jindal Group and S. S. Jhunjhunwala group in 1989. It manufactures decorative paints and industrial coatings. Some of India’s iconic buildings and structures such as the Howrah Bridge, Rashtrapati Bhawan, etc. were painted with Shalimar paints.

Shalimar Paints launched 18 new eco-friendly coatings and implemented Zero Liquid Discharge. Water usage and GHG emissions were reduced. Sourcing from Indian MSMEs climbed to 50%. However, total energy consumption and waste generation increased, with a notable drop in waste recovered.
Shalimar Paints is evaluating strategic options like business restructuring, asset acquisition/transfer, and fundraising to enhance its operational & financial position and boost shareholder value. A board meeting will be called shortly to assess these proposals.
